Why Cask Whisky Bar Is a Must-Visit in Grand Cayman

The night I wandered into Cask Whisky Bar in Camana Bay, Grand Cayman, I wasn’t expecting to discover a new favorite spot.
My husband and I, along with our friends Richard and Mary, decided to stop in on a whim—and from the moment we stepped through the door, I knew we’d found something special.
A Grand Cayman Gem

The décor struck me first. Refined yet comfortable, Cask feels like the kind of place where you instinctively want to sink into a leather sofa, tuck a pillow behind your back, and settle into unhurried conversation over a beautifully crafted drink.
Intimate seating areas, low tables, and a warm, elevated ambiance create a space that feels both classy and inviting—a true sanctuary for slowing down and savoring the moment.

We were greeted by the head bartender, Blair, a native Scotsman whose warm enthusiasm immediately set the tone for the evening. Even as someone who doesn’t typically gravitate toward brown spirits, I was instantly intrigued by their extensive and creative cocktail menu and thoughtfully curated wine list.

My husband and our friend Richard, on the other hand, were utterly captivated by the scotch, whisky, and bourbon selection. It read less like a menu and more like a love letter to the world of fine spirits.
As they began chatting with Blair, the experience shifted from “going out for a drink” to what felt like a personalized master class.
Blair didn’t just recommend bottles; he told stories. He explained how different whiskies are made, how they’re aged, and how the choice of barrel shapes their character. He talked about the influence of wood, aging time, and region, all the way down to the unique “peaty‑ness” of each pour.
You could feel his passion and expertise with every explanation.
What Impressed Me Most

What impressed me most was how carefully Blair listened. Jeff and Richard each described what they typically enjoyed—and what they didn’t—and Blair translated that into spot‑on suggestions that delighted them both. Their faces after that first sip said it all: this was exactly what they’d been hoping for, even if they hadn’t known how to ask for it.
At some point in the evening, we had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Matt—another charming Scotsman and the visionary behind Cask. He joined us with the same easy warmth we’d already experienced from the team and kindly offered to show us their private tasting room.

Tucked away from the main bar, this space is ideal for private parties, intimate tastings, or even board meetings. I loved the touch of “hidden A/V” seamlessly integrated into the room, allowing it to transform from a business setting to a sophisticated social space without losing its character.
Matt also shared the story behind the design. His sister, a professional interior designer, crafted the overall concept for Cask, and her touch is visible in every detail—from the textures and lighting to how the seating encourages conversation and connection. It’s one of those spaces where you can tell nothing was left to chance, yet it all feels effortlessly cohesive.

And while the drinks understandably take center stage, the snack menu is a delightful surprise. They offer tasty bites, including traditional Scottish pies, which feel perfectly at home in this whisky‑forward setting and add an authentic nod to their heritage.
Cask Is More Than Just A Place; It's An Experience
